A few weeks ago I went to brunch with my boyfriend and his mother; we went to Ella Café in Plantation, FL. When they were telling me about where we were going I was just expecting a typical coffee shop with specialty coffee. Keep in mind I’m not a big coffee person but I was excited to try something new.
The moment I walked into Ella Cafe I knew I’d be in love with it. It is a quaint café, though its small it’s charmingly decorated. The café gives off a bit of a vintage homey feel with accent pieces on the walls and tables, there is also living room set up in a niche at the back of the cafe.
The menu options are remarkable, the hardest thing with the menu is not ordering everything. The Italian Grilled Cheese was the go to for me, because 1. I love caprese and 2. who says no to grilled cheese. I loved everything about this sandwich, if I’m being honest I still think about it. I also ordered a cold brew Caramel Rosemary coffee with macadamia milk, while drinking it all I could think was “if I could drink this everyday I’d be happy forever”. But my favorite thing of all has to be the Rosemary Scone, it’s like nothing I’ve ever had before. If I could order a dozen of them at a time I would in a heartbeat. They also serve a cinnamon donut muffin that is basically everything you love about cinnamon toast crunch in a soft warm muffin.
The ambiance is causal and relaxing, very welcoming; there is great music playing overhead, and a small stage for open mic nights. The customer service is top notch, the staff behind the counter, to the owner and the chef. Everyone is sweet and hospitable, their goal is to make sure every customer is enjoying themselves and their food. I felt very comfortable there and I could’ve stayed there all day.
I’ve had great experiences each time I’ve gone to Ella Café, and I’ve only been there for brunch so I can only imagine how amazing the rest of the menu is. I know it may be out of the way for some of you, but trust me the food and experience is well worth the trip.
My only complaint would be, why do you have to be so far away from home?
